This newly launched Kaito KA500GRN 5 way powered emergency radio is actually a sister product of Kaito’ wide ranges of KA007, KA008, and KA009. With in-built Ni-MH batteries, this emergency radio can also be charged with a solar panel, three AA batteries, AC/DC adapter, and with a dynamo crank (which helps to recharge not only the battery but also provide power when no batteries installed).

There is an internal generator to charge the internal replaceable Ni-MH battery pack, flashlight and reading lamp. This emergency radio helps to forecast weather for alert signaling, and it has pre-programmed seven channels that the switch range clearly from 1 to 7 for easy tuning.

On the backside of the solar panel, you can find an ultra-bright 5 LED reading lamps. Apart from the commonly coming standard accessories of earphone, and user guide, this pack comprises multiple adapter tips for charging smartphone of standard models such as Nokia, Samsung, Motorola, and LG.

  • Smartphone Charging

Apart from charging the emergency radio with 5 different types, one can also charge the smartphone by plugging into the jack on the backside of the radio

Pros

  1. 5 types of charging modes to hold the power back in easy methods
  2. Seven weather channels that are pre-programmed
  3. 5-way powered emergency radio, AC, battery, hand crank, solar and computerized features
  4. AM/FM/Shortwave radio and 7 pre-set NOAA weather channels with alert

Cons

The pack does not contain AC/DC adapter and AA batteries, wherein the user has to buy and has to have standby batteries too.

Bottom line

The emergency radio is an avant-garde design with nifty functional activities that work significantly as a great companion for outdoor events, traveling et al.
